Photo of famous Yankees stolen from Michaels

Diners hoping to get a last look at some familiar faces on the wall of Michaels restaurant may be disappointed after the theft of a photo from the line-up of famous faces inside the downtown eatery, just days before its scheduled closing.

Sometime between Dec. 19-22, a photo of Yankees greats Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford was stolen, according to a police report. The photo was snapped as the three ate at the landmark Rochester restaurant. It's unclear what year it was taken.

No value was given in the report, but a search online reveals a photo of the three in their Yankee pinstripes — a publicity shot — is selling for $6.99, plus shipping.

No suspects have been identified.

New Year's Eve will mark the closure of Michaels to clear the way for future development, which necessitates demolishing the 63-year-old restaurant.
