Photography studio to open on Fourth Avenue

Christopher Lee Photography will open Monday in its new home at 113 Fourth Ave. N.E.

Owned by Austin native Chris Iverson, the business was nominated for New Business of the Year in 2009.

Iverson's photos cover the gamut, from newborns to sports to family portraits, as well as senior photos, maternity shots and dance.

The studio's hours will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturdays.

Iverson, who has been in business for about three years, formerly operated out of his home.

New Associate

James Sturdy is the latest addition to the staff of Davis, Thoen, Kramer and Associates, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. in Austin.

Sturdy is a lifelong resident of Austin; he graduated in 2009 from Bemidji State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

He holds a securities license, as well as a Minnesota insurance license.

As a fully licensed paraplanner with the firm, he will assist the advisors in the office as they work to help clients identify financial needs and objectives, and recommend solutions to help them plan for their goals.

Cavanaugh to step down

The senior vice president of external affairs and general counsel with Hormel Foods Corp. has announced his impending retirement.

James Cavanaugh, who has been with the company since 1982, also served as corporate secretary until 2007.

His retirement is effective Jan. 30.

Cavanaugh will be succeeded by Lori Marco, a corporate attorney with Hormel since 2004. She will be vice president of external affairs and general counsel.

Other Hormel moves

• Senior vice president Jody Feragen on Wednesday was named executive vice president of Hormel Foods Corp. She will continue to oversee all financial areas as chief financial officer for the company. Feragen joined the company as treasurer in 2000; she became CFO in 2007.

• Steven Binder was also promoted Wednesday; he is the executive vice president of refrigerated foods for the company. He has been with Hormel since 1979, progressing through several sales and management positions within the food service and meat products groups.

• Ronald W. Fielding has been named executive vice president of corporate strategy, planning and development. An employee since 1994, he will focus on direction and growth by overseeing the mergers and acquisitions process.

• Thomas R. Day was promoted to group vice president of food service. He's been with the company since 1981.

• James M. Splinter, vice president of marketing for consumer products in the refrigerated foods division, has been named group vice president of grocery products.
