ZUMBRO FALLS — Two people were injured Friday morning in an accident involving a pickup and a construction backhoe on U.S. 63 near Zumbro Falls.
Keith Klindworth, 22, and Curtis Atkinson, 58, both of Zumbro Falls, were taken to the Lake City hospital by ambulance, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Their injuries were reported as serious but not life-threatening.
Atkinson was driving a backhoe south on U.S. 63 and collided head-on with a pickup driven by Klindworth about 8:45 a.m. Traffic in the southbound lane was blocked for about two hours while the scene was cleared.
