Volunteers from the Rochester Quilt Society loaned a hand — and some sewing machines — to National Guardsmen of Bravo Co.

Ninety-nine Guardsmen are set to be deployed and must apply eight or nine name patches to their uniforms and gear. The Quilt Society pitched in on Saturday to get the job done.

The federal government has to requisition the work, so the quilters charged a nominal fee, which they donated to a family readiness group serving the company, sad July Tebay, who headed up the effort.
