The 125th anniversary of the founding of the Minnesota Education Association will be celebrated at Mayo Civic Auditorium. The MEA was founded in Rochester on Aug. 27, 1861. The organizational meeting was held at the First Baptist Church, near the present site of the Mayo Civic Center.

Rochester is one of several Minnesota cities in which an effort will be made to determine whether there is an association between environmental radiation levels and the incidence of congenital malformations.
Rochester Dairy Cooperative is introducing a polyethylene half-gallon milk carton on home routes and in stores. The new carton replaces the wax-type cartons.

Attendance records were shattered at the Olmsted County Fair with more than 8,000 people attending its first day. In fair exhibits, Mayowood Farm No. 2 chalked up 10 first places and three seconds in the Guernsey class.
Radio cowboys "Slim Jim" and his brother, "The Vagabond Kid," will make an appearance at Eagle Drug Store.
