Red Kettle Challenge matches begin soon

On Saturday, the Rochester Salvation Army will introduce the first of its 2014 Red Kettle/Christmas challenge match donation opportunities.

Gifts added to a red kettle on that day will be matched up to $2,040 by inspirational investments provided by McGladrey, LLC, Olmsted National Bank, Soldier's Field Veteran's Memorial and Schmidt Goodman employees, who held a blue jeans/work day to raise their gift.

Kettle challenge matches are inspirational investments of $250 or more provided by local businesses, individuals and organizations. They are intended to inspire the community to donate during a period of greater return to the Rochester Salvation Army.

When the community responds local programs benefit to help meet human needs such as food, housing, medical and dental care, caregiver support and social services. More than 80 percent of every dollar given is returned to these programs each year.

Rochester Salvation Army officials said that red kettle matches are an integral part of reaching this year's $1.05 million goal of the Rochester Salvation Army Red Kettle/Christmas campaign.
