RED WING — Two groups in the Red Wing area will receive $336,930 in Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants.
They are among 33 groups in the state to get grants of $10,000 or more.
The Minnesota Historical Society grants office received a record $14.2 million in requests for this large grants round, said Carolyn Veeser-Egbide, the society's grants manager. In all, $3.2 million was given out.
The two local ones are:
• Red Wing will get $258,600 to preserve the G.S. Carlson Lime Kiln. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

• The Prairie Island Indian Community will receive $78,330 to find new ways to preserve burial mound sites on the the community lands.
