Red Wing to host informational open house at He Mni Can-Barn Bluff

RED WING — The Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission is hosting a day on He Mni Can-Barn Bluff from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the bluff's east entrance off East Fifth Street.

Information and presenters will be at the base of the bluff to answer any questions about the He Mni Can-Barn Bluff master plan. There will also be guided hikes leaving the base of the bluff at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to show some of the land stewardship and safety improvements that are part of the master plan recommendation.

"We'll have lots of information showing various elements of the master plan, and also having some guided hikes," said Red Wing Planning Director Brian Peterson. "We'll show where some of the improvements will happen."

James Clinton from the Goodhue County Historical Society will lead groups to the kiln and other cultural assets, Peterson said. And Red Wing park naturalists will be available to talk about the natural habitat on the bluff.

The updated master plan draft is available on the city's website at www.red-wing.org/barn-bluff-master-plan.html, Peterson said.
