Red Wing to practice bluff rescues Oct. 9 and 10.

RED WING — The Red Wing Fire Department and paramedics will train in rescuing people from bluffsides or steep bluffs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and next Thursday in the lower quarry of Memorial Park.

The park will remain open but the fire department asks people to avoid the lower quarry if possible.

Firefighters and paramedics will be working with State Patrol flight crews.

Because of Red Wing's topography, there's a good chance they will need to rescue someone from a bluff or hillside, according to the fire department.
