An emergency management drill Thursday in downtown Rochester will necessitate the closure of three blocks of roadways surrounding Charter House, Mayo Clinic Retirement Living.
Mayo Clinic and the city of Rochester will stage an evacuation drill from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday. During this time, three blocks of roadway will be closed: Second Street Northwest between Second and Third avenues; Second Avenue Northwest between Second and Third streets; and Third Avenue Northwest between Second and Third streets.
Though Third Avenue Northwest is included in the drill area, only the most easterly lane of the 200 block should be affected by the drill, a city news release said.
Access to Mayo Clinic's Proton building will be maintained from Second Street Northwest and Second Avenue Northwest.
Rochester Police Department Sgt. Jon Turk is coordinating the city of Rochester's role in the drill; he can be contacted by phone at 507-328-6940 for more details.
