The Rochester Elks Lodge No. 1091 will host a ceremony today, Flag Day, at 5:30 p.m. at Soldiers Memorial Field.
The ceremony will recount the history of the flags that have represented this country, including the Gadsden flag with its "Don't Tread on Me" message, the original 13-star flag of the original colonies and the POW-MIA flag for missing servicemen and women. Live music will accompany the reading of the history of the flag, according to information from the Elks Lodge.
After the ceremony, a free meal will be served in the park or at the Soldiers Memorial Field Golf Course clubhouse in the event of rain. It will be pulled pork sandwiches and chips. The public is invited to both the ceremony and the food afterward, according to the Elks.
