Rochester police arrest suspects in St. Paul shooting

Rochester police on Sunday arrested four people believed to have participated in a shooting in the metro area, authorities said today.

The local department was contacted about 5 p.m. Sunday by the St. Paul Police Department, which said there was reason to suspect the suspects had traveled to Rochester after the crime.

The investigation and subsequent surveillance led Rochester officers to a hotel on Second Street Southwest, where the group was allegedly staying. Because the suspects were considered armed and dangerous, the city's emergency response unit was called in, said Capt. John Sherwin.

Three members of the group were arrested outside the hotel; the fourth was arrested inside the room, he said. All were arrested without incident and held for St. Paul police, Sherwin said.

No further details were available about the shooting or the victim, he said.
