Rochester police seek information about alleged shooting

Rochester police are investigating the report of shots fired Tuesday in the 1300 block of Valleyhigh Drive Northwest.

Officers responded to the area about 3:10 p.m., where they encountered a witness — but no suspects or victims of the alleged shooting.

The witness told authorities he was on Valleyhigh Drive Northwest, waiting to turn into a business, when he saw a white SUV pull into the parking lot. A brown van stopped in the road parallel with the SUV, the witness said; that's when the driver of the SUV reportedly fired two rounds at the van.

The two vehicles then left the area, both heading south on Valleyhigh Drive.

The driver of the SUV was described as a thin, short, black male, the police report says. No description of the other driver was available.

According to Lt. Casey Moilanen, no one has come forward to report being shot or fired upon.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Rochester Police Department. Callers may remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visiting rochesterolmstedcrimestoppers.org.
