The starter's gun goes off at 7 a.m. Sunday in Byron for the 18th annual Med City Marathon with hundreds of runners surging toward Rochester.
Races:Marathon, half marathon, four-person relay, 20-mile training run (not timed) and 5K on Saturday.
Course: Starts in Byron and finishes in front of the Mayo Civic Center.
Best places to watch: Kutzky Parkby the outdoor tennis club (for the full and half marathons); downtownarea by the Civic Center — can see marathoners several times; Broadwayacross from Snappy Stop — can see marathoners a couple of times as they do the loop. Finish areaat Mayo Civic Arena.
Exchange zones for relay:No. 1, Country Club Road/Olmsted County Road 34 and Harvest Avevnue North on the north side of the road.

No. 2, On east Silver Lake Road in the park on the east side of the lake.
No. 3, At Slatterly Park on 10th Street Southeast at the pavilion.
For the kids:11 a.m., Saturday, Med City Kids Marathon; 1 p.m. diaper dash/toddler trot
Expo: Fitness Expo, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Mayo Civic Center.
Afterward: Post-race party with live bands from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center. Free beer to all participants 21 and older.
