Snow storm blasts region in 1937

1987 — 25 years ago

A bomb threat forced the evacuation of Spring Valley High School shortly after noon, and students were sent home. Fillmore County authorities searched the building for more than 90 minutes and found no bomb.

The Chatfield High School band is one of 20 from around the nation selected to participate in the April 11 Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington.

1962 — 50 years ago

The world’s most powerful computer, the IBM Stretch 7030 system, the system for which was manufactured in Rochester, arrived in London this week to be used by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.

1937 — 75 years ago

A storm lashed Minnesota with high amounts of snow, and strong winds piled up large drifts. The highway department said roads are impassable and advises drivers to keep off the roads.
