St. Paul nursing home employee accused of stealing

HASTINGS — A South St. Paul nursing home employee is charged with theft and financially exploiting a vulnerable adult for allegedly writing herself checks from residents' accounts.

Prosecutors say Lisa Blair, 43, of Circle Pines stole nearly $63,000 between March 2009 and last November. Blair allegedly wrote checks to herself and to her husband from two residents' checkbooks. The victims were considered vulnerable adults, and Blair had been helping them write checks.

Prosecutors say Blair also used one of the victims' credit cards to put $2,000 toward her child's college tuition.

Blair allegedly told police she intended on paying the money back, but it got out of hand. She couldn't be reached for comment.
