Stewartville crash allegedly caused by texting

STEWARTVILLE — A Stewartville woman escaped serious injury after the car she was driving missed a curve while she was allegedly texting.

Sydney Quackenbush, 18, told officers she was "looking at her phone to read a text" near the intersection of Sixth Street Southeast and Olmsted County Road 106, said Sgt. Tom Claymon of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.

The road makes a 90-degree curve, he said; Quackenbush drove straight off, according to the report. The crash occurred about 12:45 a.m. Sunday. She was cited for using an electronic device while driving.

Claymon said extra patrols will be out this week to enforce the no-texting law.
