STEWARTVILLE — A 34-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly assaulted his former landlord.
The two men had a confrontation over damage to an apartment, said Sgt. Tom Claymon of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office. The landlord left the apartment and was in the building's office when the suspect entered the room and struck him several times with a half-inch socket wrench, Claymon said.
The alleged suspect then used a wheeled-dolly and struck him several more times, the report says.
When deputies responded to the scene in the 100 block of South Main Street, the 34-year-old allegedly told them he was "happy that it happened," because now he could have a fresh start, Claymon said. He also told deputies he "has a weird people skill that makes people like me, and the victim was just angry because other (residents) like me more."
The incident was reported about 7:45 a.m. The landlord refused medical treatment, the report says.
