No significant damage was reported from a series of storms and one funnel cloud that swept through the far eastern part of the region, Iowa, Mississippi River Valley and into Wisconsin Monday afternoon and early evening.
The National Weather Service at La Crosse, Wis., received the first reports of 1-inch hail at 4 p.m. in Stacyville, Iowa and they continued into early evening.
In this region, there were reports of 2-inch hail in Fountain, 52-mph winds near LeRoy and a funnel cloud between Goodview and Fountain City, Wis. There were no reports of the cloud touching down or doing damage.
While there were bursts of heavy rain, the ground was dry enough that there was no flooding, the service reported today. Rainfall totals varied from 0.02 inch at Altura and 0.43 inch at Dakota.
