In an effort to help provide school supplies for children in need, the United Way of Olmsted County's Running Start for School program is having a Stuff-the-Bus event.
Running Start for School provides needed school supplies for students in Olmsted County from lower-income families. The bus will be at Walmart South, 25 25th St. S.E., Rochester, from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The goal this year is to provide school supplies to more than 3,100 students, or almost half of those who qualify. The biggest needs are backpacks, colored pencils, markers, notebooks and loose leaf papers.
Individuals, businesses and organizations also may collect school supplies and drop them off at United Way of Olmsted County from Aug. 10 to 12. The school supplies are sorted and distributed to students on Aug. 23 and 24.
