Suspense fills the air as bells toll during classic fairy tale
Grace Andersen, Shannon Stutzman, Matt King, and Kayla Byram rehearse a scene from the upcoming Matchbox Theatre performance of 13 Bells of Bogelwood.

Who doesn’t like a classic fairy tale? Maybe taking a one-hour break from shoveling to enjoy this fun play would be a perfect plan for another snowy winter weekend.

Jenny Dreyer, assistant director for "13 Bells of Boglewood," written by Max Bush, said, "Children and adults will enjoy this classic fairy tale performance because it has a lot of energy with some very funny lines."

The play is billed as an action-packed mystery with questions about making the right choices. The cast includes magical fairies, goblins and a young man and a boy who enter a magical forest in search of gold.

The centerpiece of the play is the Bogle. The greedy Bogle will answer only three questions about the gold, and when the 13 bells begin to toll, a young boy must make a difficult decision.

Although this is not a musical, the background music used to set the tone of the play really adds a lot to the performance, said Madlain Vander, who plays Lara in this weekend’s performances.

Bleys Ranisate, who plays Smith, a landowner, said, "The cast gets along well with each other, and I think that is reflected on stage by the way the characters interact."

Both Dreyer and Vander agree that the costumes in this show are outstanding and make the show a lot of fun.

Dreyer said, "Carley Karranza, of Austin, made all the costumes for this show and they are wonderful."
