Teen pleads not guilty in accident case

An Iowa teen has pleaded not guilty to a string of charges stemming from a traffic accident in July near Saint Marys Hospital in which three pedestrians were injured.

Patrick James Frank, 16, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, made his first appearance in Olmsted County Juvenile Court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to nine offenses. He is charged with two felony counts of criminal vehicular operation. The other charges are gross misdemeanors, misdemeanors and petty misdemeanors. A pretrial hearing is set for Nov. 17.

The charges stem from a hit-and-run accident in a crosswalk at Second Street and 14th Avenue Southwest. The complaint said Frank fled the scene and that he was on the cell phone at the time of the accident.
