Thieves break into shed, steal Harley Davidson near Dexter

Detectives with the Mower County Sheriff's Office are investigating the theft of a Harley Davidson motorcycle from a locked machine shed near Dexter.

The 1993 black FLHS Electraglide was apparently stolen from a building in the 70000 block of 225th Street sometime overnight Tuesday.

According to the report, the motorcycle battery was dead, so the thief or thieves removed it and replaced it with one from a nearby riding lawnmower.

A shed door was pried open to gain access, said Chief Deputy Mark May; nothing else was reported missing.

The motorcycle, which is valued at $6,000, had black, hard leather covered saddlebags, whitewall tires and a windshield. It carries a license tag of 19911MC.
