Three arrested after sale of stolen ATV

Three Byron residents were charged Wednesday in Olmsted County District Court after they allegedly tried to sell a stolen ATV.

Scott Wayne DePoppe, 55, Todd Michael Bauer, 46, and Shanna Jean Lillian Rose, 32, all face one count of felony possession of stolen property.

In addition, a search Wednesday of DePoppe's vehicle allegedly turned up small amounts of oxycodone and methamphetamine, likely sparking drug charges, as well.

The incident began Sunday, when a person called the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office to say the three were hoping to sell an ATV that the person believed had been stolen.

Members of law enforcement brokered a deal to buy the vehicle Monday in the 4300 block of 18th Avenue Northwest; after the money had exchanged hands and the ATV was being unloaded, the three were arrested, said Sgt. Tom Claymon.

The vehicle was reported stolen from a southeast Rochester resident in January, he said.

Rose and Bauer remain in custody in lieu of bond; DePoppe was released after posting $2,500 conditional bail.

The three are due back in court Sept. 4.
