The ongoing vice operation targeting human trafficking resulted in three arrests in Rochester Thursday afternoon, police said.
A 25-year-old woman from Iowa was arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. An 18-year-old Iowa man was arrested for promoting prostitution, said Lt. Mike Sadauskis.
In addition, a 39-year-old man from Rochester was arrested for engaging in prostitution-under age 18, after he allegedly responded to an advertisement placed by local police and making arrangements for sex with an underage person.
The incidents began with an advertisement on backpage.com, a free classified advertising site that also contains a section for adult services. Members of Rochester's street crimes unit monitors the site, watching for listings that involve the immediate area, and posting ads of their own in order to find suspects who may be soliciting for sex.
