Three Rochester students named to military academies by Walz

Three Rochester high school seniors will be heading to military service academies in the fall to begin their service careers, 1st District Rep. Tim Walz announced Monday.

Jack Dingle, of Mayo High School, and Christopher Huhn, of Lourdes High School will be attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Jackson Wilson, of John Marshall High School, will be attending the U.S. Air Force Academy, as will Jonah Noeldner, of Owatonna High School.

All four are residents of Minnesota's 1st Congressional District and were nominated to attend respective academies by Walz as part of his academy nomination duties.

"Their service to our country will be a source of pride for our communities and a character-shaping experience for these future leaders," said Walz in a statement. "I wish them all the best as they learn and grow in the Military and Air Force academies. They have bright futures ahead."

High school students interested in applying for 2014 admission to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and/or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy should contact Walz's Rochester office at 507-206-0643. Applications are due by Oct. 31.
