Trucker hospitalized after crash near Stewartville

STEWARTVILLE — Two large trucks collided Thursday morning near Stewartville, sending a Florida trucker to the hospital.

Arniel Martinez Valdez, 35, of Miami, Fla., was traveling northbound on Olmsted County Road 1 in his Freightliner when a Mack truck traveling eastbound on Minnesota Highway 30 struck it broadside. The truck was driven by 45-year-old Brian Krenzke of Chatfield.

Valdez suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report. He was transported to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester for treatment by Gold Cross ambulance, but was not listed among hospital patients Friday morning, according to a spokesperson.

Krenzke was not injured in the crash.

The Stewartville Fire Department and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency also investigated, but discovered no hazardous material, according to the report filed by Minnesota State Patrol.
