Two arrested for ramming cab, police ca

Two Rochester teenagers were arrested late Tuesday after allegedly stealing a car, leading police on a high-speed chase and ramming a cab and squad car.

The 18-year-old suspect is from southeast Rochester, and the 19-year-old is homeless, said Rochester Police Capt. Brian Winters.

The investigation alleges the two took a cab to southwest Rochester. They got out, didn't pay, got into a nearby parked car, rammed the cab and fled the scene. When a police officer saw them near U.S. 52 and U.S. 14 west, they tried to flee. They began to go up the exit ramp to West Circle Drive when the driver lost control, and the vehicle ended up facing the wrong way.

He drove down the ramp and hit the squad car and then fled west on 14. Other squads followed until the driver pulled over at the intersection of 14 and Olmsted County Road 3.

The two are in the Olmsted County jail, awaiting charges that include several counts of theft and assault.
