Two brothers arrested for shoplifting

Two brothers with an extensive criminal history remain in custody today after police said they attempted to steal electronics and clothing from a Rochester store.

Officers responded at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday to Kohl's, on 25th Street Southeast, for a report of shoplifters.

As the two suspects left the store, they saw the police cars and fled on foot, Capt. John Sherwin said. The pair eventually were caught with the store merchandise, which totaled about $1,000, the report said.

Sherwin, who called the pair "prolific," said charges are expected sometime today.

The Post-Bulletin typically doesn't identify suspects until they've been charged.
