Two people were badly injured in separate crashes Thursday.

A Zumbrota man was hospitalized Thursday when his motorcycle struck a pickup on Minnesota Highway 60 near Zumbro Falls, according to the State Patrol. Jason J. Gascoigne, 24, was in critical condition this morning, according to a Mayo Clinic spokeswoman.

The patrol said he was driving westbound on Minnesota 60 when he tried to pass a westbound pickup that was turning left onto 390th Street in a no-passing zone. The truck was towing an Airstream trailer.

Thomas R. Magill, 53, of Bismarck, N.D., the driver of the truck, and his passenger, Sarah J. McCullough, of Bismarck, N.D., were not injured.

The crash was reported at about 12:30 p.m.

At 2:58 p.m., a three-vehicle crash left one driver in serious condition at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis.

The patrol said Matthew C. Woods, 19, of La Crescent, was the driver of one of three vehicles involved in the crash at Minnesota highways 16 and 26, south of La Crescent.

The patrol said John E. Mullen, 24, of Brownsville was driving south on Highway 16 when he lost control of his car and hit a car driven by Jeremy J. Marker, 39, of Wayauwega, Wis. then hit the Woods car.

Marker was treated at Gundersen and released. Mullen was taken to Winona Health in Winona. The hospital had no information on him this morning.
