VFW Post 1216 Auxiliary is taking applications for two scholarships.
The applicant for the Marcella Arnold Nursing Scholarship must be a full-time nursing student in his or her final year of an associate degree or baccalaureate degree school of nursing.
Applicants must be eligible to join the VFW or auxiliary or be a child or grandchild of a member. Applicants must be a Minnesota resident or a member of a Minnesota VFW or auxiliary attending a school in Minnesota. For more information, contact the auxiliary president at 434-7489 before March 15.
The VFW Post 1216 Auxiliary also is accepting applications for the Minnesota Scholarship program. This scholarship provides money to any veteran who served at least 180 days in active overseas military duty. It does not matter if the soldier served as recently as Iraq or Afghanistan or as long ago as World War II. The veteran can be somebody who has never attended college or vocational school or somebody who is in need of a new skill to stay competitive in the job market.
The purpose of this scholarship is to better the lives of veterans and their families.
