Victim may have been followed by would-be burglars

Rochester police are looking for suspects in what one official called a "troubling" burglary attempt.

The incident was reported at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of Autumn Lake Court SW. That's where the homeowner was apparently followed as he left a business he owns, said Capt. John Sherwin. Surveillance video from a neighbor's home shows a dark SUV following the victim's vehicle as it approaches the house.

The homeowner left again a few minutes later, and the SUV can be seen pulling into the driveway. Two people got out of the vehicle and apparently tried to force open a garage door that leads into the house, setting off an alarm.

The suspects fled without making entry, Sherwin said, but the homeowner told police the damage to the door hadn't been there earlier.

"This is troubling, because it appears the victim was followed from work," he said.
