Voters OK money for school projects in 1987

1987 — 25 years ago

Graduation ceremonies are scheduled for the medical laboratory technician program at Rochester Community College.

Rochester voters approved a $24.5 million school bond issue by a vote of 6,348 to 5,596. The money will be used to expand four elementary schools and a junior high.

The Farmer Seed & Nursery will have its second annual big tomato contest in September. Tomatoes must be ripe and will be judged by weight.

Dr. William J. Mayo was appointed to the consulting board of cancer research at Columbia University.

Construction of a school playground in Chatfield as a WPA project was proposed to district WPA authorities by L.J. Sutherland and Paul Keith, both of Chatfield.
