Where's the beef?

While those planning on visiting the Olmsted County Fair this year have a lot to look forward to, some may be asking "Where's the beef?"

Olmsted County Fair Board President Terry Leary said the fair will not have open-class showing for beef cattle this year because the fair board could not find a beef superintendent to oversee the showings.

This kind of thing has happened in the past, with there being no open-class poultry showing last year for the same reason.

Leary said although those who have shown beef cattle in the past may be upset, she is hoping to continue to work with them to find a superintendent for next year to bring back the popular attraction.

Fairgoers need not worry, however; livestock favorites such as dairy goats, dairy cattle and poultry will make their usual appearances this year, along with the Miracle of Birth Center.
