Fight for the Union, our weekly page looking back at Southeast Minnesota's part in the Civil War 150 years ago, now heads for winter quarters. This is the final chapter until next fall, when we'll begin our look back at 1864, when the Union armies were moving inexorably toward the final defeat of the rebellion.
We began this project in September 2011 and since then have published almost 40 pages about the war, by Post-Bulletin writers, freelancers such as Ryan Stotts, and local and area historians such as Joe Chase, Richard and Sharon Krom, Tom Ostrom and others. We're proud of this work and have learned a lot in the process. Hopefully you have as well.
All the pages are archived at Postbulletin.com , and one of my projects early next year is to make that webpage more complete and easy to use.
If you have events or story ideas you think we should cover next time around, please pass them along now. Before long, we'll start working on telling those stories about our ancestors' involvement in the war that redefined America.
