Woman faces drug charges after appearance in court

A Minnesota City woman who appeared in Olmsted County District Court for a misdemeanor theft citation was charged Friday with felony drug possession after she allegedly showed up at court high.

Alyssa Susan Mueller, 35, faces one charge of fifth-degree drug possession. She remains in custody in lieu of $1,000 conditional bail. Her next court appearance has been set for Aug. 28.

The charge stems from Mueller's court appearance Wednesday, when Judge Debra Jacobson and other court staff noted bizarre behavior, said Sgt. Tom Claymon of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.

Mueller was allegedly twitching and slurring her words, the report says, and seemed unable to sit still.

Jacobson ordered her removed from the courtroom and tested for drugs, Claymon said. She tested positive for methamphetamine.

During a search of her belongings at the Adult Detention Center, 0.7 grams of meth were found in her purse, the report says.
