A Rochester woman has been sentenced to probation for her assault of a hospital employee last fall.
Carol Ann Dahn, 56, of 8 Seventh Ave. S.W., was sentenced Tuesday in Olmsted County District Court after being convicted of fourth-degree assault-hospital emergency personnel, a gross misdemeanor. Two counts of misdemeanor fifth-degree assault were dismissed.
According to the criminal complaint, Rochester police responded about 10 p.m. Nov. 5 to Saint Marys Hospital for an assault call.
A nurse there said that when Dahn — described in the complaint as intoxicated and depressed — entered the emergency department, she was initially cooperative, then wanted to leave, the report says. Dahn allegedly slapped the nurse and said, "I can slap you, that's part of your job."
Dahn reportedly continued to swear at the nurse, who escorted Dahn to another wing of the hospital with the help of two other employees. During the transport, the complaint says, Dahn continued to kick all three of the employees, and spit at the nurse.
