ZUMBROTA — A workshop on how to prevent elder abuse, scams and fraud will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota.
The workshop is open to the public, geared for people who are 55 or older, and will provide information about identification theft, mortgage scams and caregiver, home improvement and investment fraud. Speakers also will address nursing home and assisted-living abuse and what to do if abuse happens.
The workshop will feature a panel of experts from the Rice County attorney's office, the Goodhue County Elder Justice network and the Bank of Zumbrota, as well as an attorney and police officer. A light supper will be served.
The workshop is sponsored by the Goodhue chapter of Thrivent for Lutherans, the Zumbrota Community Trust, the Bank of Zumbrota and United Redeemer Lutheran Church.
