AUSTIN — An 28-year-old Alden man is facing charges of driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on Interstate 90 after he was stopped early Sunday in Austin.
Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger said his office heard on the State Patrol radio about a report at 12:24 a.m. Sunday of a vehicle going east in the westbound lane and heading toward Austin. An officer was able to parallel the wrong-way vehicle and another officer was able to put out stop sticks that punctured one of the tires.
The driver continued onto an exit in Austin and was stopped. He refused to be tested, the chief said. The report on the incident has been forwarded to the Mower County Attorney's Office.
