YMCA of Austin chooses new CEO

The YMCA of Austin has appointed Tedd Maxfield as the new CEO.

Maxfield replaces Mark Bjorlie who retired May 1 after 15 years at the helm.

Maxfield is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and has had a 21-year career in the YMCA. He began his career as a program director at the Marietta YMCA in Ohio where he worked in a variety of youth programs.

He took his first CEO position at the Osage Prairie YMCA in Nevada, Mo. He was the first director hired at the Y and began operating the Y out of a shoe store and offered community-based programs.

Maxfield was appointed president/CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Little Rock in Arkansas in 2008.

He has served as a Rotary president, and also been involved with a variety of community boards and has been active in his YMCA State Alliance.
