YMCA plans announcements at annual meeting

Leaders of the Rochester Area Family YMCA are set to unveil new 2016 programs and services, release the 2015 Annual Report and present the year's impact highlights during a March 29 annual meeting.

Mayo Clinic Dr. Michael Joyner will give a special guest presentation on the importance of the YMCA's work. The annual meeting is open to the public and is scheduled to begin with refreshments at 5 p.m. and the meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The YMCA board of directors is expected to make a statement regarding the YMCA's plan for growth and challenges the organization faces, according to a news release.

"Our Family Y also faces several growing challenges including an aging facility and a noted decrease in full-time memberships," said Ann Beatty, incoming board president, in the release. "These issues plus the added stress of uncertain finances have us looking at all options going forward."

YMCA has provided service in Rochester since 1867 and today serves thousands of people in the community. Organization leadership is considering long-term growth opportunities, the release said.
