More than 200 people have signed up for the Kahler Hotel’s Valentine's Day food festival celebration. The three-day event includes cooking classes and tasting sessions.
A number of musicians from the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestra played a musical marathon at the Apache Mall. The concert was a fund-raising event for SEMYO.

About 500 Rochester businessmen and women were guests of educators during the biennial Education-Business Day at Rochester Schools. The program is designed to acquaint business leaders with Rochester education.

A new 40- by 40-foot youth center has been added to the 100-year-old Congregational Church in Mantorville. The center will be open after school each afternoon and most evenings.

A blinding blizzard roared in from the west with frigid conditions and has paralyzed travel. A baby girl was born at home rather than at a hospital to Mrs. Vernon Sleihler. Nine-foot snowdrifts kept Dr. C.M. Robilliard away from the house which is 4 miles from Faribault. Instead, he gave instructions over the phone to the mother of Mrs. Sleihler and the baby was born at 2:30 a.m. Everyone is doing nicely.
