Alexander 'Sandy' Henry — Utica

Alexander "Sandy" Henry, 73, of Utica, died Friday evening, March 15, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Sandy was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Fremont Township of Winona County, to Earl and Ruth (McCready) Henry. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1958 where he excelled in basketball, baseball and football. Following high school, he served in the United States Army stationed in Korea. Sandy sold feed and/or managed Wyattville Feed Mill, Hulshizer Grain of Utica, Big Gain of St. Charles and Benson Feed of Utica, and currently Benson of Lewiston.

Sandy belonged to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles, was a member of St. Charles American Legion, a past commander of Lewiston American Legion, and served as the long-time Mayor of Utica. Sandy enjoyed family, friends, his work, gambling at the casino, and just loved life.

Survivors include his long-time companion, Lida Greethurst; a granddaughter, Billie Jo (Steve) Bishop; great-grandchildren, Julia and Isaac Bishop; two brothers, Curt (Margaret) Henry of St. Charles, and Dean (Margaret) Henry of Utica; and his nieces and nephews; and Lida's daughter, Vonda (Richard) McAllister.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. A reception will follow the service. Burial will be at Fremont Scotch Cemetery in rural Lewiston.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles.
