Alma Ruth Uzlik - Austin
AUSTIN — Alma Ruth Uzlik, age 80, of Austin, died Thursday April 8, 2010, at her home.
She was born January 5, 1930, at the family farm to Mr. & Mrs. Walter Schwartz. Alma attended a one-room country school in Red Rock Township until the 8th grade. She attended and graduated from Austin High School in 1948.
She started employment with Enger Abstract Co. She married Myron Byers. When he was drafted and sent to Korea she moved to Minneapolis and worked for an insurance company. After he returned to Minnesota, they moved back to Austin and she returned to work with the Enger Abstract Co. After her husband’s death she continued to work at Enger’s, and in 1975 she married Graham Uzlik.
She enjoyed her flowers, did a lot of canning, and became especially noted for her excellent dill pickles, giving many quarts to family members at Christmas.
She belonged to the Minnesota Association of Legal Secretaries and always enjoyed their meetings.
She was a beloved and wonderful wife and made coming home to each day, a blessing to be with her. The suddenness and shock of her death makes us realize how fragile life is. She will certainly be missed by all who know and loved her.
