Arlene Churchill — Burnsville
Memorial services for Arlene Churchill will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, with Pastor David Leider officiating. Burial will take place in the Spring Valley Cemetery. Friends may call an hour before the service at the church.
Hindt Funeral Home of Spring Valley is in charge of arrangements.
Arlene Churchill, 93, of Burnsville, formerly of Spring Valley, passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville, where she resided for two years.
Arlene H. Rost was born April 2, 1921, in Hartley, Iowa, to Clifford and Irene (Jacobs) Rost. Her family moved to Spring Valley her junior year of high school in 1936. After graduation in 1938, she attended beauty school in Minneapolis. After completing her training, she worked in several beauty shops in Rochester and Spring Valley. On June 16, 1940, she married Kenneth Churchill at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Arlene loved to sew, play Bridge, golf, knit and travel. After retirement, Arlene and Kenneth were snow birds that migrated south each winter to their home in Mesa, Ariz. Arlene was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Arlene is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline (Jack) Park of Atkin and Susan Churchill of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Todd Churchill of St. Cloud, Traci (Roy) Olson of Roosevelt and Travis (Lizeth) Park of Sarasota, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Churchill and Dylan and Jordan Olson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Irene, husband of almost 70 years, Kenneth, son, Craig and sister, Evelyn Wilson.
