Arthur Gray - Lake City

LAKE CITY — Arthur Gray, age 89, of Lake City, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, at the Lake City Nursing Home–Mayo Health System.

He was born December 10, 1920, to Walter and Clara (Broecker) Gray in Delhi, Minnesota. He farmed in Lake Township until 1960 and then moved to Lake City. Art worked for LeRoy Sprick for nine years doing carpentry work and then did carpentry work on his own for 20 years. He served as a 4-H club leader for 10 years.

Arthur was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Scottish Rite in Rochester, and the Carnelian Lodge 40 Masonic Order in Lake City for over 50 years. He enjoyed gardening, cribbage, spending time with his family, and helping others.

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Gray of Lake City; sister-in-law, Frances Gray; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marilyn Dose; and two brothers, Glen and Walter.

Funeral service will be Monday, April 26, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. David Badgley officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Masonic Service will be held Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
