Ater Manyang — Rochester
The funeral service for Ater Manyang will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Zumbro Lutheran Church, Rochester, with the Rev. Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with the burial at Oakwood Cemetery immediately following.
Ater, 24, of Rochester, passed away on March 18, 2016, in St. Peter, Minn.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1991, in Khartoum, Sudan. In 1999, Ater moved to Egypt with his mother and younger brothers. In 2000, they moved to Houston, Texas. In 2007 his mother passed away, and then he moved to Rochester with his brothers to live with their aunt.
Ater played basketball at Century High School and graduated in 2007. After graduation, he attended St. John's Military Academy in Milwaukee, Wis.
Survivors include two brothers, Akolda and Kangor Manyang; three aunts; one uncle; and very many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Amer Jok.
