August H. Eggert

August Herman Eggert, 87, of West Concord, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Cottagewood Senior Communities.

He was born January 18, 1934 in Kasson the son of Herman and Letha (Brown) Eggert. Augie attended school in Kasson but after his family moved later in his high school years, he graduated from West Concord High School. He was a mechanic at Boe Repair and worked 30 years at IBM as an Electrical Circuit Cards Technician. He married Verna Fitzgerald on Sept. 26, 1953 in Owatonna. The couple lived and farmed on a hobby farm near West Concord.

Augie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Kasson and a lifetime member of the West Concord Historical Society. He loved to dance and play cards. Augie was a talented mechanic and enjoyed helping others by fixing anything from a small engine to a piece of farm equipment for them. He also enjoyed working on the firetrucks as a part of Firehouse #4 for the West Concord Fire Department. Augie was known as the “greeter” at Erdman’s County Market in Kasson.

He is survived by his son, Steve (and Cheryll) Eggert of West Concord; daughters, Shari Brandvold of Mazeppa, Kathy (and Bill) Krause of Cornucopia, WI, Lori Lermon of Glendale, AZ; daughter in law, Judy Eggert of Hayfield; 9 grandchildren; great grandchildren; special friend, Nancy Sanford of Kasson; sisters, Carole Hotchkiss of New Prague, Janet Canfield of Osseo and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Eggert; son, Dan Eggert; two sisters; seven brothers.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel on Friday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Kasson on Saturday from 2pm to 3pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 3pm at St. John’s Lutheran of Kasson with Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Memorials are preferred to West Concord Fire Department, St. John’s Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice.
