Barry Wold — Mabel

Barry Wold, 70, of Mabel, formerly of Spring Grove, passed to the Lord on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Green Lea Manor in Mabel.

A Spring Grove High School graduate, Barry played football and the tuba. Barry went on to play football at Winona State University.Barry joined the United States Army and served on the DMZ Line in Korea, as well as in Vietnam. Upon his return to Spring Grove he worked on his farms, and built his trucking business, "Wold Trucking."

Barry is survived by his 91-year-old mother, Jane; his former wife, Mary; and their three children, Eric Wold, Nicole (Josh) Ranzenberger and Amanda (Bill) Dewey; his grandchildren, Madison Thompson, Piper Thompson, Austin Martinez, Peyton Thompson, Roman Martinez, Dashua Ranzenberger, Tucker Ranzenberger, Maverick Ranzenberger and Ainsley Jane Dewey. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne (Janet) Wold; his sister, Susan (Bill) Goodman; his nieces, Melissa Wold, Lara (Abe) Mendez and Suzanne (Eric) Burkness; and also great-nieces and nephews.

Barry is preceded in death by his 96-year-old father, Hildus.

Barry was what the bible refers to as a "gem," a true friend, and Barry had many, many friends. He was a blessing to his beloved family, friends, God and country. We cherish our memories of Barry and thank God for his life.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate.Burial will be in the Trinity Church Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post# 297 of Spring Grove.

Friends may call today, Nov. 20, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
