Bernice J. Schaefer - Bloomington

Bernice Jean (nee Allen) Schaefer, 87, of The Colony at Eden Prairie, and a former longtime resident of Bloomington, passed away peacefully Friday, March 23, 2012.

She was born July 20, 1924, in Grand Meadow. 

Preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Frederick; parents, Charles and Laura Allen; one sister and two brothers.

Bernice is survived by her children, Charles Schaefer, Steven (Barbara) Schaefer, Patricia (Christopher) Conroy and Pamela (Steven) Otteson; grandchildren, Jennifer, Patrick, Christina (Bernard Bartos), Kalyn, Stefanie and Kimberly; great-grandsons, Colin and Parker; two brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Bernice was a longtime Parishioner of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, baking and playing Scrabble and Bingo.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Colony at Eden Prairie for their support and care throughout the journey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Church of the Nativity of Mary, 9900 Lyndale Ave. S., in Bloomington. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be today, March 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel, 9947 Lyndale Ave. S., in Bloomington, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to Mass at church on Tuesday.

If desired, memorials may be directed to the family to be donated in Bernice's memory.
